Abstract Painting in AndalucĂ­a

This historic hillside village, a picturesque hillside village in Andalucía, about 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the inspiring setting for this creative getaway. Participants of all abilities – even beginners – will be taught how to design and produce modern art. Some time will be spent outside, working on tutorials out in nature. These initial sketches and watercolour studies will then be worked on in the studio, with participants creating a number of abstract landscapes in acrylics to be shown in the local community. The group has exclusive access of the venue, which is centered on an central patio and has a sun terrace with views over the countryside. The price includes five days of painting tuition; full board; and an outing to the local castle and additional points of interest.

This sun-drenched foodie getaway, based at a riverside villa in the inland Algarve, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Guests will master the art of meze spreads, take part in a falafel-making workshop, perfect mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains including a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes visits to the village market and a local vineyard to sample Portuguese wines, combined with free time for walks by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or swim in the infinity pool. Street Dance in High Wycombe

This energetic camp is an uplifting, welcoming weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The format throughout the camp is a high-energy group warmup, followed by three 90-minute classes covering different street dance styles, then an 60-minute jam to demonstrate those solos. Dancers are divided into groups based on skill level, so it is perfect for those who are completely new to street dance, all the way to advanced dancers or teachers. The camp doesn’t include accommodation but there are several hostels and hotels nearby, and it is under an hour by train into central London.

Sea Shanty Weekend in Cornwall

This coastal town is the excellent location for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at writing their own. There will be voice exercises, breath control techniques, performance tips and a closing performance. The holiday is held in a country house with views of St Ives Bay. Full board are included, including a traditional tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. Traditional rum, unfortunately, is not included. Writing in Greece

Writer and tutor an experienced instructor conducts the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He covers topics including plot, characters, setting and tension, to submitting work to publishers. Greg’s wife, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will co-host special sessions at the start and finish of the week. The holiday is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – ten one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a central garden with a pool (companions are welcome to come along).
