The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded on Thursday, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the top winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with accolades for Best Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's achievements, its talented performers also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English was named Best Lead Performer for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Best Development Team. Overall, Clair Obscur and its creative team won 7 awards during the ceremony.
Other major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. It is important to note, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by critics.
