The Miami Heat scored eighty-six first-half scores against the Memphis Grizzlies

Miami Heat earned a crushing 146-114 win against the Grizzlies in their initial basketball match since guard Terry Rozier was detained for suspected illegal sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested in connection with a sweeping federal probe into illegal gambling. The two individuals contest the claims.

But, the Miami team were focused as they recorded 86 opening half scores to lead the Grizzlies by 39 at halftime, the largest half-time advantage in the team's 37 year history.

Adebayo led the way with 24 scores and afterwards stated Rozier had the support of the team.

"We support him. Complete backing," Adebayo said. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother at the end of the day."

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra added: "Rozier is a person who is very dear to all of us. He has made a real positive impact on our team.

"We send our thoughts and our care for him as he faces the situation."

The Trail Blazers additionally won their initial match since the arrests, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Billups' non-attendance and leading the team to a decisive 139 to 119 win against the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and how he coached," Splitter remarked. "Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."

League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' by Recent Events

Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the past few days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the integrity of the game," he told a broadcaster. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."

The commissioner further said an league probe into Rozier's conduct in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he participated for the Hornets versus the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the authorities and the betting companies," he continued.

"We then looked into the matter and were very transparent regarding it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the NBA can't do.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating since then. And, of course, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"Moreover two and a half years after, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise in this case between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."

Greek forward Antetokounmpo also had a strong performance with 31 points, twenty rebounds and 7 assists in the Milwaukee Bucks' 122 to 116 victory at the Toronto Raptors.

Rockets were beaten 115-111 by the Pistons even with thirty-seven points from Kevin Durant, while Wembanyama had twenty-nine scores, eleven rebounds and 9 rejections in the Spurs' extra-time victory over the Pelicans.
