Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
