'Living a Nightmare': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Await Answers After Ski Resort Fire

The loved ones of young people missing after a devastating fire at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are enduring an excruciating wait for answers and pleading for any details about their children publicly.

The fire devastated the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the early hours of January 1st. Confirmed images depict the roof structure igniting as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the fatalities of the disaster, which killed numerous partygoers and wounded another scores more. A spokesperson said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been identified, with the process continuing to locate the remaining few.

In the waiting period, relatives have been posting on online platforms to plead for information about their missing relatives who were at the bar that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his mother.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.

She added that some of his peers had been located with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured hell."

The Italy's government has said that a number of of its nationals are still unaccounted for.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last heard from around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is dead, without directly referencing the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who embodied dedication and true sportsmanship."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An representative has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise among the missing. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and ended up at the bar.

"A companion said they fled after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers stated, "I've always been struck by his good nature and smile, coupled with great maturity. Every time offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives full-time in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her sibling has published an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Officials from her other nation say they are continuing to monitor the case.
