Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.
The president said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Mourners gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in DC.
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to assist people.”
Service plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with distinction, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” he addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
