Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.
The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.
Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have previous links to the team - are among the names to be considered by the club ownership.
Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.
However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading candidate for the vacancy.
The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the process of appointing a fresh head coach.
Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.
The former West Ham United player is out of work which means the club would not need to provide any compensation.
