Spurs Boss Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager

Spurs fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals can't be real Spurs fans" by boss Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of scores in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' second score when the keeper lost the ball far beyond his box.

The goalkeeper came out to deal with a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Spurs fans booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those jeering episodes really irritated Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters apparently booed the situation and jeered after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Spurs fans that do that. Fair enough booing following the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early advantage prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second-half showing.

Former Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the next goal was "completely avoidable".

"I do appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He is a great squad member, he is a real leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what turned out to be the winning goal."

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Match

Italian international Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That goal was a error of mine, I take responsibility for that," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It's on the team to stay more calm, to focus on our own performance. The team is lacking in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it's tough to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'

In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second longest-range top division goal of the season – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

Ten moments passed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 seconds after the kick.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the area for a long time," he remarked.

"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.

"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of extra time. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the right contact and get it towards goal. I had a positive sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

The match was their tenth home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint club record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home games against Frank's former club Brentford and title holders the Reds to play before the close of the year.

Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, everything appears to work against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from Vic.

"The outcome puts us in a place where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a unique story, today we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have been defeated in four consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 shots and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest averages on record in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
